Common Reasons Homeowners Delay Basement Waterproofing
Do you have a leaky basement? Dealing with leaks in the basement can be quite annoying. Excessive moisture in the basement can lead to mold infestations and damage to the items stored in the basement. At worst, it can cause even more severe basement wall cracks, heaving of the basement floor and a host of other foundation problems.
No one wants to have a leaky basement. However, homeowners often take their time when it comes to calling an expert for basement waterproofing. They put off repairing their basements and end up having to deal with even worse problems that are more expensive to repair. When you’re in a bind, it’s easy to give in to the pressure of a sales pitch or use the first company you come across without ascertaining that they can do a good job.
Why homeowners procrastinate
Below are some of the most common reasons why homeowners put off professional basement waterproofing.
Call Us Today ! (678) 741-2900 Everdry Atlanta will explain the waterproofing process and the items listed below:
- They believe waterproofing will be expensive
Many homeowners are misled into believing that waterproofing their basements will be an expensive venture. However, this isn’t always the case. The cost for the repair will depend on various factors. These include the contractor you’ve chosen, the severity of the damage, the method of repair and the cost of the materials used.
Putting off repairs will result in severe damage. You can save thousands of dollars by ensuring that you repair your basement as soon as you notice a moisture problem.
- Relying on waterproofing paint
Waterproofing paints and other coatings don’t solve water seepage problems. They only serve to mask the problem. You won’t be keeping the water out. You’ll only be holding off the river for a while. In fact, applying these coatings without resolving the underlying problems will only make the problem worse.
- Not taking the leak seriously
Some homeowners view the leaks in their basements as nothing to worry about. After all, the basement hasn’t flooded. They’ll only take action when their basement floods or something worse happens.
You can avoid expensive repairs by simply investing in professional basement waterproofing services before anything serious happens.
Take action now
Waterproofing your basement isn’t something that you can afford to put off. The problem isn’t going to get better if you ignore it. In fact, it is likely to get worse. Call a professional and have your basement inspected to find out what the problem is and how you can resolve it.
