What Happens When You Don’t Invest in Timely Foundation Repair Atlanta, GA
Are you a homeowner? Have you noticed signs that your foundation is in need of repair? As a homeowner, you may feel like work on your home is never-ending. From maintaining your landscape to repairing or replacing indoor fixtures, the issues keep piling on. Foundation repair is the last thing you’ll want to add to your to-do list.
However, repairing your foundation isn’t something you should put off for too long. Your foundation, after all, is the structure that supports your entire home. The structural integrity of your home is dependent on the strength and stability of your foundation. It is therefore important for you to address issues early. Here’s what’s likely to happen if you put foundation repair off for too long.
- Extensive structural damage
Structural damage resulting from foundation issues is not confined to the basement. If you don’t invest in repair for your foundation you will begin to notice damage in other parts of your home. Your doors may become misaligned, walls in the upper levels of your home will begin to crack and your floors will become uneven. Repairing extensive structural damage that affects other parts of your home can be quite expensive and time-consuming. It is best to repair your foundation as soon as you notice a problem and avoid the costly repairs that could result from ignoring it.
- Plumbing issues
Your home’s plumbing runs through your foundation. If you fail to repair your foundation, you will be putting your plumbing at risk. The pipes will become damaged by the movement of soils and your foundation. You could end up with burst pipes and a flooded basement. You will not only have to spend money on the repair of your foundation but also on your plumbing. This can be very expensive.
- Water damage
A damaged foundation can leave your home vulnerable to the penetration of moisture. Moisture from the surrounding soils can seep through the cracks and crevices in your walls. This can result in a mold infestation. Pests such as cockroaches and rodents thrive in damp environments. If you leave the problem unresolved, you could end up with a flooded basement.
Investing in timely foundation repair is important for the integrity of your foundation and home. It will also help you avoid costly repairs and health risks from pest or mold infestations. Be sure to consult with a professional as soon as you notice problems with your foundation.
